Shady Grove Metro Station Garage

Description

Built almost entirely of 1,949 pieces of precast concrete, the Shady Grove Metro Station Garage provides an additional 2,050 parking spaces for commuters. Shockey’s Total Precast System included shear walls, inverted tee beams, spandrel beams, stairs, columns, and even the elevator tower. The seven-level parking structure has become a basic template for garages at other Metro stations in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Joining Shockey on the construction team was general contractor San Jose Construction Group, Inc., of Washington, DC.
